Daniele Rustioni, who serves as the Music Director of the Ulster Orchestra and Opéra National de Lyon, is returning to the Hallé. He has recently been honoured with the title of “Best Conductor of the Year” at the 2022 International Opera Awards.
Wagner’s Prelude to Act One of Die Meistersinger reaches its peak in a composition that showcases his exceptional skill, effortlessly blending five of the opera’s primary themes.
Stéphane Rancourt, the Principal Oboe of the Hallé, performs the challenging solo part in Richard Strauss’s Oboe Concerto. Regarded as the most exceptional oboe concerto composed during the 20th century, this piece is filled with the rich and warm tones characteristic of the renowned Romantic composer’s later years, often referred to as his Indian summer period.
Liszt’s symphonic poem Les préludes explores the enigma of life and the unknown realms beyond it, while Richard Strauss’s suite from Der Rosenkavalier captures the essence of the opera through its lively waltzes, opulent orchestration, and exquisite love melodies.
