SUMMARY:Chatsworth In Song
DESCRIPTION:Join Chatsworth Estate Ecologist Edmund Austin and Chatsworth Landscape Team Volunteer Co-ordinator George Hoey as they discuss the important work being undertaken across the estate to monitor bird populations and manage critical habitats. \n\n\n\nBackground to the talk\n\n\n\nChatsworth’s bioacoustics monitoring programme uses specialised recording devices to capture the sounds of wildlife across varied habitats.  \n\n\n\nBy scheduling surveys throughout the year\, we’ve been able to identify a range of migratory and non-migratory species and compare our results against SSSI national averages to inform long-term habitat management.   \n\n\n\nAlongside this\, we monitor bird boxes to track nesting success and ring both chicks and adults\, in partnership with the British Trust for Ornithology\, to gather essential data on bird populations and habitat health. \n\n\n\nIn this talk\, Edmund and George will share some of our exciting findings and how they have directly influenced the way in which the estate is managed.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Sherlock Holmes | The Adventure of the Speckled Band
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a dramatic reading experience where you and I will bring this Sherlock Holmes adventure to life. \n\n\n\nThe Adventure of the Speckled Band is one of Arthur Conan Doyle’s most popular Sherlock stories. The case begins when Sherlock Holmes is approached by a young woman named Helen Stoner. Troubled by the perplexing death of her betrothed twin sister two years ago\, Helen is now set to be married herself. Strange sounds and sights around the house arouse her suspicions and prompt her to go to 221B Baker Street. So the case begins. \n\n\n\nWhether you want to sit back and enjoy\, or step into character and read\, this is your chance to be part of the story. Come along to figure out what is puzzling Miss Stoner. \n\n\n\nIf the story itself isn’t enough to tempt you\, each ticket includes a cheese board to nibble or devour as our tale unfolds. \n\n\n\nNo experience needed\, only enthusiasm! \n\n\n\nTickets can be purchased via the link below for £36

SUMMARY:Little School of Ecology - Haddon Medieval Park
DESCRIPTION:Bringing The Little School of Ecology to Haddon Mediaeval Park’s picturesque\, historic grounds is a wonderful way to fulfil our mission of inspiring the next generation to value and protect the natural world. In this historic site that was once a deer park in the Middle Ages\, children from the ages of five to eleven can learn about the significance of nature\, have fun playing outside\, and get a basic understanding of tree\, flower\, bird\, and insect identification. \n\n\n\nHaddon Hall always offers free admission to children (15 and under). For a fun family outing\, join us every Tuesday for free children’s tours of the Hall and\, for a small fee\, archery sessions in the parkland. \n\n\n\nHaddon Mediaeval Park is the setting for The Little School of Ecology\, so please be aware that it is a natural\, undeveloped area. There aren’t many trails\, and the ground can be slippery\, muddy\, and uneven. Children should wear sturdy shoes\, such as walking boots\, for their own protection\, and adults should bring warm\, waterproof clothing in case it gets cold or wet during your visit. Keep in mind that neither the weather nor the species you may see can be guaranteed. Nature is full of surprises! If the weather forecast calls for heavy rain\, high winds\, or storms\, the session will still go ahead as planned. \n\n\n\nFor kids between the ages of 5 and 11\, accompanied by an adult (please\, no more than three kids per adult). \n\n\n\nDates: Tuesday 11 & Tuesday 25 August 2026
