DESCRIPTION:With so many things to do for kids young and old\, Chatsworth Farmyard and Adventure Playground makes for a fun day out for all the family. \n\n\n\nIn the farmyard\, you’ll meet our friendly animals\, from chicks\, piglets and horses to our mischievous lambs\, goats and guinea pigs. We’re also delighted to be home to a number of rare breeds including Suffolk Punch horses\, Shire horses\, Albion cattle\, Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs\, Tamworth piglets\, Golden Guernsey goats and marsh daisy chickens. \n\n\n\nTake a ride on our tractor-trailer through Stand Wood (a small fee applies)\, everyone is welcome. \n\n\n\nFrom the farmyard\, take the secret tunnel to the children’s playground to climb our woodland towers\, and tackle our zip line and racing slides. Fetch water from the stream using the Archimedes screw\, and enjoy the huge sand play area (remember to pack wellies and waterproofs!)

DESCRIPTION:Join Chatsworth Estate Ecologist Edmund Austin and Chatsworth Landscape Team Volunteer Co-ordinator George Hoey as they discuss the important work being undertaken across the estate to monitor bird populations and manage critical habitats. \n\n\n\nBackground to the talk\n\n\n\nChatsworth’s bioacoustics monitoring programme uses specialised recording devices to capture the sounds of wildlife across varied habitats.  \n\n\n\nBy scheduling surveys throughout the year\, we’ve been able to identify a range of migratory and non-migratory species and compare our results against SSSI national averages to inform long-term habitat management.   \n\n\n\nAlongside this\, we monitor bird boxes to track nesting success and ring both chicks and adults\, in partnership with the British Trust for Ornithology\, to gather essential data on bird populations and habitat health. \n\n\n\nIn this talk\, Edmund and George will share some of our exciting findings and how they have directly influenced the way in which the estate is managed.
