Chatsworth’s main 2026 exhibition looks at books, writers and reading within the Devonshire family and the house’s library.

The collection has developed over around 500 years and includes rare editions, annotated books, manuscripts, letters and other material associated with writers, collectors and past members of the family.

The exhibition is included with normal house and garden admission and runs until Sunday 4 October. It is particularly worth considering if you are visiting Chatsworth during the remaining weeks of September.
