Accommodation in Bakewell

Selected as one of the top five B & Bs in the East Midlands, River Cottage is situated on the banks of the River Wye, in Ashford-in-the-Water, one of the most beautiful villages in the entire Peak District National Park, and is perfectly located for either business or pleasure in the area.

Nearby Matlock also boasts some outstanding accommodation, including Riverbank House and Holmefield Country Guest House. Family-owned, Riverbank is the only Matlock B & B with river frontage and its own car parking area in a quiet cul-de-sac close to the bridge on the River Derwent. Ideally situated, therefore, it has twelve rooms – eight double, one twin and three family – each with its own special character. Holmefield, three miles from Matlock, also comes highly recommended, offering five-star accommodation in the midst of some glorious countryside. There is a lounge with the traditional open log fire and, weather permitting, a peaceful garden in which to relax.

However, if you wish to remain in Bakewell itself, there is always Bagshaw Hall and Sleep Lodge, boasting boutique-style bedrooms and luxury suites and apartments, as well as budget accommodation with self-catering facilities. Bagshaw Hall is a building with more than 300 years history, while Sleep Lodge, with its spacious and contemporary style bedrooms, is situated in the grounds, and has panoramic views of the historic town.
