Description

The Monsal Head Hotel, which commands superb views over Monsal Dale, a valley in Derbyshire’s Peak District known as the White Peak, offers guests good food, with well-priced seasonal menus, real ales from local micro breweries, a large outdoor seating area, and 7 en-suite bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a drink and a hearty meal in the former stable and award-winning restaurant, or unwind in the lounge, which all have open fires blazing in the cold winter months. The Hotel and Coaching Inn are located in one of Derbyshire’s most popular beauty spots, with views of the valley and its famous viaduct, and are close to Chatsworth Estate, Ashford in the Water, Bakewell, Buxton, and Matlock.

Some of the rooms at the Monsal Head Hotel have peaceful views of Monsal Dale and Longstone Edge. Every light and airy room has an en suite bathroom, a full hospitality tray, tea and coffee, and a TV. Every morning, the Longstone Restaurant serves full Derbyshire breakfasts made with fresh, local ingredients from nearby award-winning butchers. The restaurant offers daily specials as well as an à la carte menu that changes seasonally. The Stables Bar serves a variety of real ales in a relaxed, rustic setting, whereas the Ashford Lounge provides comfortable seating, books, and games for guests to enjoy.

There is free parking, and the historic beauty of Chatsworth House and its estate are approximately 5 miles away, while pretty Bakewell town is 3 miles away. Scenic walks through the surrounding countryside are available, with the Headstone Viaduct, which is now part of the famous Monsal Trail, just 250 yards from the hotel’s front door.
